If you’re trying to budget for a midday dog walker in Chelmsford, here’s the short answer: with my service, a 20, 30 or 40-minute walk starts at $20. Five weekday walks come to about $100 a week, before any extras like a second dog or holiday dates.
Below is what that price covers, what changes it, and how it compares with the national figures published by the big dog walking apps, so you can judge any quote you get.
What a dog walk costs with Lisa’s Pet Sitting
| Walk length | Starting price | Usually suits |
|---|---|---|
| 20 minutes | $20 | Senior dogs, or dogs who mainly need a potty break |
| 30 minutes | $20 | Adult dogs who need a break and some sniffing time |
| 40 minutes | $20 | Young or high-energy dogs |
Prices are starting prices for one dog and were current in October 2026. Every walk includes exercise at your dog’s pace, a potty break, a fresh water refill and a walk report with updates afterwards. You can see the full details on the dog walking page and every rate on the pricing page.
What a week or a month of walks adds up to
Most people book walks around their work week, so it helps to think in weeks rather than single visits:
| Schedule | Walks | Estimated cost |
|---|---|---|
| One walk on a long workday | 1 | $20 |
| Three walks a week | 3 | About $60 |
| Every weekday | 5 | About $100 |
| Every weekday for a typical month | About 21–22 | About $420–$440 |
These are starting-price estimates for one dog. If you’d like to run your own numbers for visits, overnights and boarding together, try the pet sitting rates calculator.
What changes the price
- A second dog. A second dog from the same household usually adds a modest per-pet fee. It is still far cheaper than two separate walkers.
- Holidays. Walks on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and the Fourth of July carry a small premium (see the holiday policy).
- Medication. Basic oral or topical medication is included. More involved care is discussed before you book (see the medication policy).
- Last-minute requests. I try to help, but short-notice walks can’t always be guaranteed at standard rates.
Anything that changes the price is agreed before you book, never added afterwards.
How this compares with dog walking apps
National apps publish their own price data, which is a useful reference point. According to Wag!’s dog walking cost page (Wag! data as of July 2026), the typical base price on its platform is about $18 for a 20-minute walk, $24 for 30 minutes and $36 for 60 minutes, plus a $2.99 booking fee per walk unless you pay for its premium membership. Rover’s help centre says pet owners pay a booking fee of 11%, finalized at checkout.
Those are national figures, not Chelmsford quotes, and app prices are set by each individual walker. The fairest way to compare is to look at what is included and who turns up: whether you meet the walker first, whether the same person comes every time, whether they are insured and trained in pet first aid, and whether you get a report after the walk.
What you’re paying for
A walk is a short visit, but you are handing over a key and trusting someone with your dog in traffic, heat and ice. With me, you get:
- A free meet & greet in your home before the first walk, so your dog meets me and I learn their routine.
- The same walker every time. I’m a one-person business and I care for one client’s pets at a time.
- Pet First Aid and CPR certification and insurance through PCI.
- Leashed walks only, adjusted for summer heat and winter ice (see the weather policy).
How to choose a walk length
If you’re not sure which length to book, start with your dog’s age and energy. Young dogs and working breeds usually need the 40-minute walk to settle for the afternoon. Many adult dogs do well with 30 minutes of walking and sniffing. Seniors, or dogs who mostly need to go out, are usually comfortable with 20 minutes. I’ll suggest a length at the meet & greet once I’ve met your dog, and we can change it any time.
If your dog struggles when left alone all day, read the signs of separation anxiety in dogs and how pet care while you’re at work can be set up around your schedule.
